Going Gold Helps Increase your Aid Potential

Girl Scouts are dedicated, hardworking and goal oriented. Once a Girl Scout enters the high school level, she has the opportunity to earn the prestigious Gold Award. This award can set you apart during the college admissions process, application process and during your scholarship search. Girl Scouts of the United States of America defines the Gold Award as, "as seven step project that solves a community problem, not only in the short term, but for years into the future." Benefits of earning the Gold Award include: distinguishing yourself as a leader, showcasing time management skills, using your unique vision for a positive change and being a advocate for building a stronger community. Did I mention, the Gold Award looks fantastic while applying for college scholarships. For example, Case Western Reserve University (Cleveland, OH) has an Arlene Bartlow Endowment Fund strictly for Girl Scouts that have earned the Gold Award. I am covering all of this in my post because I am excited to announce College Planning Strategies and the Girl Scouts of Kent have teamed up to host the first annual college planning & financial aid workshop on Friday May, 20th. Parents of Girl Scouts are encouraged to attend this free event. Girl Scouts that attend will earn the exclusive College Planning Strategies badge. The workshop will be held in Fellowship Hall at Kent United Chris of Christ (1435 E. Main Street. Kent, OH 2240) at 7:00 pm on Friday, May 20th. During the workshop we will cover how to pay for your child's education without going broke, jeopardizing your retirement savings and why a 529 plan can hurt you in the financial aid process. This is a themed Girl Scout college planning night so we will talk about why Going Gold can help you and your Girl Scout say money for college and increase her scholarship earning potential! If you have questions feel free to call me at 330-474-7633 or email your Kent registrar Christinia at daisestoambassadors@gmail.com.
